ROADMAP
We were naive to the design thinking process when we started our first semester under Dr. Arun Aryal in Spring 2021. Dr. Aryal introduced us to the design thinking process creatively. The video of the Stanford University Extreme by design class enthralled us. It got our creative juices flowing immediately and also gave us some confidence. Most of the students had never designed anything in their lives, but after working on the design thinking process, they were able to develop a product which can save thousands of lives at a fraction of a cost. Design thinking is a set of practices that encourages creativity and takes the perspective of the people who will use the product.
Design Thinking Phases:

EMPATHY
The crucial thing in this phase is developing passion and empathy. If you don't care enough, you will not figure out the whole process and solution. After a lot of discussions, we decided to work on student healthcare. In the pandemic ravaged world, issues like job losses, isolation, anxiety about the future job market, sedentary lifestyle had hampered mental and physical health. To address this issues, we decided to develop a healthcare site that will help to maintain a healthy lifestyle and keep the morale high for the students. In the process, we conducted surveys and started one-on-one interviews with students and focused group interviews with another group. Through surveys and interviews, we got a hold on the qualitative and quantitative data. It helped us in a more profound analysis of the student's needs and why they need them.

In the market research, these were some of the questions we used to collect the qualitative data.

-
Did you workout in the pandemic? How often?
-
Are you worried about the future job market?
-
Do you find it difficult to concentrate on your studies?
-
Do you visit a counselor? Did you see a counselor during the pandemic?
-
Do you feel shy to visit a counselor?
-
What if there is a website app that can counsel you?
-
Can AI do a better job then a human counselor?

DEFINE

This phase kick-started with the data we had collected. We assembled it with an open mind, as we didn't want to apply our biased opinions or personal filters about the requirements of the students. The AI Chat-Bot became our primary objective because it was affordable, accessible, approachable, personalized and 24*7 availability.

We define the things favoring our product and against it.

Trust-building was the need of the hour, and it can happen with tie-ups with universities and other organizations, and it is a work in progress. We also planned to include surveys on the website for the initial engagement. Keeping things transparent was necessary for the concerns over data security.

IDEATE

This phase was all about creativity and open to everything approach. By the grounded method in design thinking, every group member went through all the previously conducted interviews and came up with new and improved ideas.
Following are the ideas that our team came up with.

-
Accessibility for users who have visual impairments.
-
The Chat-Bot will greet and pull up the records according to the user profile.
-
Different profiles for Doctor/Counselor and Patients/Students.
-
Making appointment with user's previous doctor/counselor.
-
Multi-language support.
-
Collaborations with medical professionals.
-
Medicine home delivery.
-
Communication and community building.
-
Skill-trading.
-
A platform for influencers, fitness coaches and nutritionist.

Though all the ideas are worthy, the goal of the ideation phase is to simplify and prioritize the most practical, efficient, disruptive and innovative one. We intended to do something new and unexpected. We wish to understand the disruption so that we can own the future.

TESTING/FEEDBACK

We showed our prototype website during the class and asked for feedback from students. Most students liked website's simple interface and break down of the categories. They would like to see search bar for items instead of going through pages. Chat-Bot was functioning perfectly. They were able to login but their only main concern was slow reloading speed on navigating to some of the pages.
